Obituary of Sherri A. Stockton-Bey

On June 1, 1960, Sherri was born to Billy and Jeanetta Sullivan in Colorado Springs, CO where she was raised and grew up as a child until she became and adult and moved to Denver, CO. Sherri has 6 siblings. James Sullivan (wife Brenda Sullivan), Christina Sullivan and Barbara Smith (Husband Andrew Smith), Michael Sullivan (Wife Shanta), Alex Sullivan and Adrianne Ballinger (Husband Cole). Sherri was married to Edward W. Jones Jr. at an early age and from that union 3 children were born. Samaria Jeantta, Roshe’Donnel (Twins) and Edward William Jones III. She was a mother of 3, Grandmother of 14, and great grandmother of 2. She was an aunt, a stepmother and God mother, to many that will also miss her dearly. Although Sherri was a mother at a young age, it did not stop her from achieving her goals to be independent and not depending on anyone for anything. Her passion to achieve this came in many forms as a lifetime entrepreneur such as catering, selling purses and shoes, event planning and most recent homemade candles and soaps. Sherri was an employee of Kaiser Permanente for 19 yrs as a certified insurance broker and also served as a Union Steward where her fellow coworkers will miss her. Sherri’s home was always known as a safe house to many kids that needed a roof over their when they had trouble at home, which kept a lot of teens off the streets in Montebello. This showed her love and compassion for the youth especially young men. During this time, she was a member of Now Faith Church where she created the Steppers of Faith which she was so proud of. She was also a former member of St. Stephen MBC where she was a youth advisor, and also held the position as the youth director at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Sherri was married to Eugene Stockton-Bey in December 2008 through December 2011. During that union she became a loving step mother to Jada and Savion. Upon meeting Eugen (Naz) is when she was introduced to the Moorish Holy Temple in 2008. Sherri was known as the comedian in the family. Her sense of humor was never absent at family functions as you would know she was in the room by her laugh. She was a protector of her family members at any cost. The smallest one in the family but had no problem jumping in the middle of a fight to protect the ones she loved. As a family we all assumed we were her favorite because she treated us all with such love and compassion. Her children and her grandchildren were her EVERYTHING but she had a special love for her granddaughter Chanel that she raised from birth to age 5. On October 24, 2021 Sherri became absent from the body and present with the Lord after complications from contracting COVID-19 ended her journey. She suffered her entire life with asthmas and was not expected to live past the age of 30 but by the grace of God and her will to live, she destroyed the doctor’s expectation and lived to see 61. Sherri had a deep love for community. She was passionate about social responsibility so much so, she had COVID rules listed on the front door to her home and her last social media post was encouraging people to get vaccinated. Sherri has leaves behind to mourn her death, her mother Jeanetta McGoughey, Her Father Billy Sullivan (wife Linda) her siblings, her Children and grandchildren, her cousins, a host of nieces and nephews, friends that will miss her dearly.
