Obituary of Ann Williams

The sun rose on the life of Mother Ann Williams on October 6, 1933 in Decatur,Georgia when she was born to Solomon and Carrie Walker. The ninth of eleven children, she had five brothers, Walter, Solomon Jr., Willie, Alfonso and Charles and five sisters, Mary, Mildred, Mammie, Annie and "Baby". A sweet natured child, she was always helpful to her parents. One of her favorite childhood memories was walking to the curb market with her mother. Educated in the public school system,she graduated from Washington High School in Atlanta, GA. On June 1, 1950, Ann was united in marriage with John W. Williams in Atlanta.To this union was born one daughter, Carolyn. Additionally, she was the loving mother of James and Marilyn. John passed away. On March 4, 1999, Ann was united in marriage with James Lowe at the Georgia Courthouse. "Ann and James always traveled together." Her children remember her as sweet and kind to those she came in contact with. In later years, her grandchild, Jaime Brown and great grandchildren Christian Nathaniel and Timothy James were an added source of joy in her life.A woman of deep faith in God, Ann was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for forty-five years. She served the Lord and the church on the Usher Board and the October Birth Month Club. In 2005, she moved her membership to Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Denver.Ann was employed with the Atlanta Board of Education in the Janitorial Department for twenty-six years. She spent most of that time working at Charles L.Gidden Elementary School. She was known for hard work and being dependable.In her free time, Ann enjoyed family, friends, watching wrestling and working crossword puzzles. Her best friend was Effie Walker, her sister-in-law. She loved yard flowers and gospel music. She left a lasting impression on everyone with her beautiful smile that could light up an entire room. "Mother was always determined to better the lives of her children. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others."Her love, caring and kindness will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have shared a part of the life of this strong minded and wise lady. To know Ann was truly to love her.The sun set on the life of Mother Ann Williams on April 15, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James (Cathy)Williams of Atlanta, GA, Carolyn Williams and Marilyn Brown, both of Aurora, CO;sister-in-law, Effie Walker of Atlanta, GA; one grandchild; two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends .Psalm 23The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
