Obituary of Ricky Dwain Johnson
Please share a memory of Ricky to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Ricky Dwain Johnson on January 21, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas when he was born to Nathaniel and Lorene Johnson. The youngest of five children he had three brothers, Terry, Gregory and DeWayne and one sister, Sheila. As a child, he was always hanging out with his friends and playing basketball. Ricky developed a preference for "everything big" at an early age. Because he loved to dress up like a cowboy, his father bought him a pony. Ricky didn't like it because it was "too small" not like a big horse. Educated in the public school system, Ricky graduated from Northwest High School in Wichita. He continued his education at Wichita State College. In 1996, Ricky met Sheila Kemp at the Spice Club in Denver, Colorado. On Valentine's Day (February 14, 2004) The couple were united in marriage. She remembers their marriage was always full of laughter. They enjoyed spending time together. "He was one of a kind. Whatever he could do to make me happy, he would do it." He became the loving stepfather of Robert and Marco whom he loved and treated like his own. He also enjoyed his grandchildren, Tray Dasha, Mia, Robert V, Raven, Ilias, Tyrone, Uriah and Mario. They remember "Grandpa" always spoiling them and buying them whatever they wanted. Ricky was employed with King Sooper for twenty-two years in the position of Meat Packer. He was known for being a dedicated hard worker. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends, partying and all sports. His best friends, Arthur Seals and Kevin will always remember him for just being himself and looking out for his family. His love, laughter, kindness and care for family will be deeply missed by all who shared a part of this joyful and gentle man. To know Ricky was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Ricky Dwain Johnson on April 29, 2014 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his mother and one stepson, Marco. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sheila Johnson of Aurora, CO; father, Nathaniel Johnson of Aurora, CO; stepson, Robert H. Kemp IV of Atlanta GA; brothers, Terry Johnson, Gregory Johnson and DeWayne (Aline) Johnson, all of Denver, CO; sister Sheila Johnson of Omaha, NE; nine grand- children; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace... Ricky
