Obituary of Christopher Lamont Johnson

The sun rose on the life of Mr. Christopher Lamont Johnson on December 9, 1969 in Detroit, Michigan to Jimmie Jackson and Maxine Johnson. The third child in the family, he had four brothers, James, Osie, Jermaine and Sidney. Early in life, Chris had a dog named Duke. "Chris would drag Duke by his tail and Duke would drag Chris by his diaper." Educated in the public school system, Chris attended Martin Luther King High School in Detroit. He was an excellent swimmer and while in high school, he taught other kids to swim. On December 31, 1997, Christopher was united in marriage with Sharon Duren whom he met in Detroit. The couple exchanged their vows in Denver, Colorado after they relocated there. Memories of the marriage include watching lots of movies together and much family time. To this union was born one daughter, Christina. Additionally Chris had another daughter, Keaira from a previous relationship. He was a loving father. "He was inseparable with Christina and a fun and loving dad with Keaira." He was also blessed with two grandchildren, LaKyra and D'Shaun. Christopher was employed with The Market in downtown Denver for sixteen years. He was known for hard work, dedication, dependability and being enjoyable to work with. In his free time, Chris enjoyed quality time with family and friends, listening to music (Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones and Roy Ayers were favorites), watching the Detroit Lions play and watching movies with his best friend, ex-wife, Sharon Johnson. His favorite colors were baby blue and grey. His most remembered expressions were, "I'm a mean old lion" (from the Wizard of OZ), "Which way is up?" and "Who stole my piece of chicken?" He was also known and loved for his ability to make others laugh. "He could be stubborn with childish ways, but had a big, giving heart." He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. The sun set on the life of Mr. Christopher Lamont Johnson on December 18, 2014 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his brother, Sidney. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Jimmy Jackson of Detroit, MI; his mother, Maxine (Denad) Wade, of Canton Township, MI; 2 daughters, Christina Johnson of Aurora, CO and Keaira Moore; 3 brothers, James, Osie and Jermaine Jackson; 2 grandchildren, LaKyra and D'Shaun Moore, all of Detroit, MI; former wife, Sharon Johnson of Aurora, CO; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
