Obituary of Rosetta Jones
Please share a memory of Rosetta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Rosetta "Precious" Jones on June 26, 1954 in Longview, Texas when she was born to Oscar Mayfield and Alma Jewel Hill. The fifth of ten children, she had four brothers, Oscar, Leon, Frank and Larry and five sisters, Betty, Wendylon, Rosie, Marion and Jewel. A happy child, she was always adventurous, smiling and outspoken. She enjoyed picking fresh berries and pecans. She loved going to the movies with her friends and playing with her siblings. Educated in the public school system, she graduated from Longview High School. Precious was first united in marriage with Sammie Lee Eldridge in Longview. To this union were born two beautiful children, Sam and Rosetta. She was a loving and devoted mother. The marriage was later dissolved. She was then married to Abiodun Olabiran. No children were born to this union and it was dissolved. In November, 1987, she was united in marriage with Larry Jones in Denver, Colorado. In later years, her grandchildren, Christopher and Alleyah were a special source of joy in her life. They remember, "Grandma was sweet and kind. She always told us how much she loved us." A woman of faith, Precious attended services at Heritage Christian Center (now The Potter's House) for over ten years. A Hospitality Executive by profession, she worked as an Executive Supervisor at Embassy Suites for many years. Her coworkers remember her as fair, happy and always willing to help. In her free time, Precious enjoyed sharing quality time with family and friends, bingo, family Uno games, casinos, watching Christmas stories and travel. Her favorite vacation was her trip to Hawaii. "She always vowed to go back to Hawaii." Her best friend was Gloria Hunt. Everyone loved her honesty, infectious laughter and great sense of humor. Her favorite singers were the Isley Brothers. Precious was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Rosetta "Precious" Jones on January 13, 2015 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Oscar Hill, Jr. and sister, Betty Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Larry Jones of Aurora, CO; son, Sam (Gina) Eldridge of Aurora, CO; daughter, Rosetta (Franklin) Roberts of Centennial, CO; brothers, Leon (Learsey) Hill, Larry (Patricia) Hill, both of Denver, CO and Frank (Cathy) Hill of Houston, TX; sisters, Wendylon Hill, Rosie Hill, Marion (Roger) Bynoe and Jewell Hill-Taiwo, all of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Christopher J.
