Obituary of Litonya Renee Parker
Please share a memory of Litonya to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Ms. Litonya "Tonya" Renee Parker on January 18, 1965 in Chicago, IL when she was born to Jerome Parker and Mary West Parker. The youngest of three children, Litonya had one brother, Donald and one sister, Annie. An active, happy child, she was always playing sports, dancing and spending time with her family. She was very close to her sister and followed Annie everywhere, even to Colorado. Educated in the public school system, she graduated from DuSable High School in Chicago, Class of 1982. Litonya was blessed with her first child, Antonio through a relationship with Timothy Brown. An older child had died a few hours after birth. A loving mother, she and her son were the best of friends. Everyone called him her twin because he looked just like her. She always motivated him in all his sports and also his academic accomplishments. She later became involved with Darnell Williams who preceded her in death. She later met John Newton and they shared many years of friendship. Her grandchildren, Myshal, Antonio, Jr., Joshua, Kaleeh and adopted grand-children, Alexis, Shannon, Shamond and Tyshun remember that "Grandma" was always fun to be around and supported the in everything they did. A woman of faith, Litonya attended worship services at Friendship Baptist Church of Christ Jesus for many years. She was employed with the Coalition For The Homeless in the position of a manager. She was known for hard work and dependability. In her free time, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved all colors, roses, house plants, R&B and gospel music. A very intelligent woman, "Tonya" loved the Lord first and her family. She was loving and generous. She would give you her last if she thought you needed it. To know "Tonya" was to love her and she will be deeply missed. The sun set on the life of Ms. Litonya "Tonya " Renee Parker when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents and infant son. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Antonio L. Parker of Aurora, CO; brother, Donald West of Battle Creek, MI; sister, Annie West of Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace..."Tonya"
