Obituary of Annie Mae Wheeler

The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Annie Mae Wheeler on October 26, 1933 in Bentonia, Mississippi when she was born to Jones Hubbard, Sr. and Willie Ella Hubbard. The second of nine children, she had four brothers, Jones, Jr., Lloyd, Bennie and Carl and four sisters, Charity, Doris, Billie and Denotra. As a child, she was always feisty and serious. She loved to read and ride horses. Educated in the parish school system, Annie graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School. On November 27, 1952, Annie was united in marriage with Clarence Wheeler, Sr. The couple exchanged their vows in Yazoo City, MS. They loved to work in the yard, dress up for church and loved family gatherings. To this union were born eight children, Annie, Clarence, Jr., Demetress, Marilyn, Alma, Dale, Cheryl and Cedric. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her grandchildren, Victoria, Shan, Travis, LaToya, Cherie, Quanta, Quincy, Kedrick, Adrian, Deidre, Jocelyn, Michael, Anthony, Stephanie, Christopher, Ashley, William, Tasha, Tamara, Jaelen, Cedric, Julian, Taylor, Jordan, Gerald, Sarai and Gabriel remember 'Grandma" always giving them things and making them laugh. A woman of faith, Annie was a member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church for many years and later attended services at House of Hope Christian Ministry in Denver, Colorado where the family had relocated to. She was a hairdresser by profession. In her free time, Annie enjoyed spending quality time with family, friends, working in the yard, cooking, going to church and doing things for her children and grandchildren. Her best friend was Mrs. Della Wilkerson. She was loved for her loving, caring attitude and her sense of humor. She loved telling jokes. Wise and smart, to know Annie was to love her and she will be deeply missed. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Annie Mae Wheeler on May 29, 2016 when she passed into eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Demetress Howard, two brothers and one sister. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Clarence Wheeler, Sr.; sons, Clarence Wheeler, Jr., Dale A. Wheeler, all of Denver, CO and Cedric (Leanna) Wheeler of Aurora, CO; daughters, Annie (Charles) Ross, Marilyn Wheeler, Cheryl (Lemuel) Williams, all of Denver, CO and Alma J. Neblett of Aurora, CO; brothers, Jones (Patricia) Hubbard of Denver, CO and Carl Hubbard of Aurora, CO; sisters, Doris Swain, Billie (Tom) Barlow, both of Denver, CO and Denotra (Raymond) Swain of Aurora, CO; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
