Please share a memory of Bryce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Rev. Bryce Allen Rodgers on August 30, 1959 in Denver, Colorado when he was born to Willie Aaron and Florene R. Rodgers. The second of five children, Bryce had three brothers, David, Howard and Wayne and one sister, Carolyn. His lifelong love of music began in childhood. He was the tuba player of "The Highlander Boys". Bryce received his basic education in the public school system, attending South High School in Denver. He then became a dedicated ROTC cadet at New Mexico Military Academy where he graduated. On June 29, 1984, Bryce was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Tammy at New Hope Baptist Church. According to Bryce, the couple got married at the end of Vacation Bible School at 10:00 PM. To this union were born three children, Roshawn, Aaron and Jaden. He was a loving husband and devoted father. His grandchildren, Kai, Zion and Maya remember their "Grandpa" playing with them, tickling them and saying "Catman got you." A man of deep faith in God, Bryce served the Lord as an Associate Pastor at Bread of Life until his death. He was the Senior Pastor of New Step of Faith and was also an Associate Pastor of True Light. His service for the Lord was his most important work. He was employed at Samsonite Luggage in the position of a forklift driver. "He was a spiritual helper, well versed in the scriptures who would find the answer and get back to you." In his free time, Bryce enjoyed family, friends, watching TV, cheering for the Broncos (avid fan) and playing bass. "He was open to trying new things, wasn't afraid to explore new things or ideas. His best friend since high school was Steve Rollart. He loved all types of music, played many instruments; tuba, bass, drums, slide trombone, and keyboard. He was in many bands. He was also a member of the Williams Ensemble and the Men's Choir at True Light. This loving, kind, dedicated man was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. The sun set on the life of Rev. Bryce Allen Rodgers on November 3, 2016 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tammy Rodgers of Denver, CO; sons, Aaron M. (Mary) Rodgers of San Jose, CA and Jaden T. Rodgers of Denver, CO; daughter, Roshawn (Belteshazzar) Emery of Aurora, CO; 3 grandchildren; Kai, Zion and Maya; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
