There is a reason there are. Many condolences. Sly was special. We met in high school; he was homecoming royalty and I was a girl nerd. Sparks flew. I have never forgotten him RIP

Sylvester we go all the back to Lothrop elementary school. I was glad that we were able to reconnect on Facebook. I will always remember the way you played first base on our neighborhood softball team. You were one of a kind. It was a blessing to have known you. Love you Unconditionally. Co-Pastor of the Unconditional Love Worship Center Omaha Nebraska.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends for the loss of your dear loved one Sylvester. He is truly going to be missed. The death of a loved one can bring pain and sorrow. It's comforting to know that the true God (Psalm 83 :18) provide us with assurance of seeing our dear loved one again. Acts 24 : 15 and Revelation 21 : 3,4 gives us God's promises of a resurrection soon to come. With Deepest Sympathy!

What a joy it was to see Sylvester before work each day. He dispensed coffee and so much love to all of us. We miss him and will cherish the light of love he shared with us. I ask God to comfort his family and friends as they walk onward.

During my time at the Webb Building Sylvester would always make my special coffee. Our conversations were always fun and uplifting. When he found out I played the organ he was determined to find out where I would be playing so he could come and one day he did and was blessed. I not too long ago ran into him and even though it had been some time since we had seen each other it was like always. I am so sad but I am thankful to have met this precious man along the way of life. Prayers and blessing to the family.

Sylvester was one of the kindest and most positive people I have ever known. He would often see me waiting for the bus in the morning on my way to work, pull up in front of me and say "Get in". Never asked for a thing. He always had a smile and a kind word to help start the long hard days at that courthouse. I hope you are at peace, Sly. God calls the good ones home all too soon. You were a good one.

About two years ago, I was reading a popular book when, one nice summer day, I walked past the Coffee Etc. location in the Lindsay-Flanagan building and saw Sylvester rocking a bright orange, skin tight t-shirt. He had several customers lined up and I just walked right up to him and said, "Orange is the new black." He looked at me and said, "O.K."
Probably a couple of weeks later, he was wearing the same t-shirt and I again approached him with the same words. It was following this second time that I learned that he had no idea what I was talking about. I explained that I was about a third of the way through the book of the same name. I happened to have the book in my purse and took it out to show him. He asked what I thought of it and gave a lukewarm review. I had, however, downloaded it to my Kindle and offered the paperback to him.
He read the book in a fairly short time and said that he liked it. I also had explained about the Netflix series, although I had not seen any of the series. For Christmas that year, Brandon gave him a Netflix subscription and, although Sylvester didn't watch much if any TV and did very little secular reading, he became an avid fan of OITNB.
I have still not finished reading the book. He asked if he could pass the book along to someone else, which was fine by me. He was one of the kindest, most caring people I have ever had the pleasure to know. We discussed all kinds of things including relationships, parenting, race, and current events. I am happy that I am on my way out of being at the courthouse as frequently because it will be an empty place without him.
