Please share a memory of Carmen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Carmen Hermenia Ammer Ross on March 13, 1956 in Laurel, Mississippi when she was born to Bennie and Tommie Jean Minor. The oldest of nine children, she had two brothers, Calvin and Eric and six sisters, Denise, Ammer, Regina, Alfredia, Kelly and Kristie. As a child, she was always helpful "a little homemaker". Educated in the public school system, she graduated from Manual High School in Denver, Colorado where her family had moved. She continued her education at the University of Northern Colorado where she earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and an Associates in Education. On May 31, 1985, Carmen was united in marriage with Stephen Ross whom she met at Antioch C.O.G.I.C. where they exchanged their vows right after midnight. To this union were born four handsome sons, Jeremy, Jared, Jasper and Johnathon. Additionally she was the loving mother of Jabari. Carmen was a devoted wife and deeply caring mother. A woman of faith, Carmen was a member of Antioch C.O.G.I.C. for 19 years and Israelite C.O.G.I.C. for 11 years. She worked as a substitute teacher, day care provider and secretary. She was employed the longest at the Department of Epidemiology. In her free time, she enjoyed time with family and friends, writing and listening to music. She was a published and honored poet and most loved gospel music. Her best friends were Alma Black, Debra Ramsey and Cynthia Maxwell. Her favorite color was gold and she loved roses. Everyone will always remember her kind, calm and holy demeanor. Her favorite expressions were, "Hallelujah!, "Glory" and "I am not the one!" To know Carmen was to love her and she will be deeply missed. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Carmen Hermenia Ammer Ross on March 20, 2017 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents.
