Obituary of Yolanda Garner-Griffin
Please share a memory of Yolanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Yolanda Yvette Garner Griffin on January 11, 1973 in Lubbock, Texas when she was born to Willie Judie, Jr. and Marilyn Coleman. The oldest of four children, she had two brothers, Torrance and Terrance and one sister, Lovie. A happy child, she was always playing tennis and reading books. She loved to watch the movies "Grease" and "The Color Purple" and spend time with her grandmother, Oze Garner. Educated in the public school system, Yolanda graduated from Estacado High School in Lubbock. She continued her education, studying at South Plains College in Lubbock, TX. Yolanda was first united in marriage with Robert Bunton.
To this union were born five handsome sons, Robert, Jr., Shaquane, David, Samuel and Xavier. Shaquane remembers watching "Family Fued" and being called "Cupcake Number 2". Samuel remembers always going to church, David remembers going to Lakeside Amusement Park and Xavier remembers just being with her and spending time. The marriage was later dissolved. On October 22, 2007, Yolanda was united in marriage with Danielette Griffin in Lubbock. "
They had a great friendship, loved their dogs and enjoyed the blending of their two families." With this union, she became the loving mother of Francesta, Nicole, Geneva, Daniel and Tamika. Her grandchildren, Sariah, Samari, Sadriyan, Sia, Aden, Deshawn, Daedrii, Kaliise, Timarian, Eli'Zon, Najee, TyVaughn, De'Vaughn, Isabell and Annabelle loved their Grandma very much. "She always hugs and was very nice." A woman of faith, Yolanda was a member of The Potters House of Denver. She worked in the telecommunications industry in the position of a Customer Care Senior Assistant at Conduent. "She was dedicated, worked on multiple accounts and could always be counted on in a pinch." In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading books and playing cards.
Her best friends Marie, Anjana and Paula knew she was a true friend. "She never let them down, she was always there." Her love, caring, kindness and concern for others will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have shared a part of this lovely lady's life.
