Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Stanley McClure, Sr. on August 29, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois when he was born to Roy McClure and Mary Harper. The youngest of six children, Stanley had three brothers, Daniel, Cornelius and Edward and two sisters, Deborah and Myrtle. A helpful and hard working child, Stanley was always fishing, a love that continued all his life. Educated in the public school system of Chicago, he later extended his education at Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver where he earned his Videographer Certification. (And he was good at it.) Stanley proudly served his country in the United States Army. At the end of his active duty, he was given an Honorable Discharge. He was the devoted father of six children, Donna, Stanley, Jr., Steven, Myron, Lynnette and Chrystopher. "He was a good man and a very good provider for his family. They went on alot of camping trips. Stern and direct, he was caring and loving." His grandchildren and great grandchildren, Toya, Jonah, Madilyn, Ethan, Hunter, Isaiah, Bradford, Courteney and Phaedra loved their "Grandpa or Pop Pie" to the moon and back, as he did them. A man of faith, Stanley was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Denver for over 25 years. He served the Lord and his church, doing the video taping of different activities and generously donating to alot of different organizations. A bus driver by profession, Stanley worked driving the buses in Chicago for over 28 years. He was also a part time real estate broker. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends, gospel music, reading, fishing and showing his companion and best friend, Shirley Fowler, the world. His beautiful smile, love of family and kindness will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to be a part of this wonderful man's life. To know Stanley was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Stanley McClure, Sr. on May 7, 2017 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna, son, Stanley, Jr., two brothers and both sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved companion, Shirley Fowler of Aurora, CO; sons, Steven (Bridgette) McClure, Myron McClure, both of Chicago, IL and Chrystopher (Jennifer) Tracy of Fountain, CO; daughter, Lynnette Hilton of Chicago, IL; brother, Daniel McClure of Chicago, IL; nieces, Sylvia Stallworth of Chicago, IL and June Lombard of Seattle, WA; eleven grand-children, two great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other rela-tives and friends.
