Obituary of Donald Norah

Donald Norah was born on April 22, 1938 in Columbus, Georgia to Tommie Norah, Sr. and Mary Farley-Norah. He had two brothers, Tommie Norah, Jr. and Gunzell Norah and three sisters, Mildred, Patricia and Gracie. He was baptized at an early age at Rosehill Memorial Baptist Church. Donald ("Don", "PauPau") graduated from Spencer High School in Columbus, GA. He later migrated to Denver, Colorado with his cousins and mentors, Colonel Nathan Walker and wife, Lucy Walker. He later attended Central University in Ohio. He was then drafted in the United States Army where he served three years and received an Honorable Discharge. He met and was united in marriage with Virginia Butler. To this union two children were born, Dawn and Mark. Later he was united in marriage with Mary Lee Clayborne. To this union one son was added, Jeffrey. Mary preceded him in death. Many years later, he met and was united in marriage with Ora Hamilton. Ora's children, Lorraine Collins, Otis Hamilton, Jr. and Dwayne Hamilton completed Don's family. Don was an achiever and had a zeal to work. He never ceased to enlarge his territory. He was employed with Sterns and Rogers for a few years. He was an excellent businessman as well. He retired from Raytheon as a supervisor. As a child, Don loved to play baseball. He had a great sense of humor and was very personable and outgoing. To know him was to love him. He loved his family, singing and attending church. He enjoyed football and baseball. His favorite team, of course, was the Denver Broncos. A singer he was! He sang with the church Male Chorus. At one time, he was a member of a gospel group. Don served as a Deacon for over thirty years at King Baptist Church in Denver under the leadership of Rev. Alvin J. Gay where he served faithfully. On Friday, August 11, 2017, Deacon Donald Norah's journey ended when the Lord called him home. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers. Don's memory lives on in his family; wife, Ora Hamilton-Norah; children, Jeffrey Clayborne, Dawn Norah and Mark (Bridgett) Norah; sisters, Mildred Crawford, Patricia Norah and Gracie Parkman; grandchildren, Shaylah, Deron, Aiyana, Cole and Parker; three great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Emma Owens; god daughter, Sharon Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

When Friday, August 18th, 2017 11:00am Location Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church Address 1500 S. Dayton Street Denver, CO 80247 Service Extra Info PLEASE NOTE: Mr. Norah will lay in peaceful repose one hour prior to the service (10-11a.m.) at the church.
