Obituary of Bernadette Lourdes Hogue

The sun rose on the life of Ms. Bernadette Lourdes Hogue on February 11, 1958 in Frankfurt Germany when she was born to Albert Johnson and Janet Thuston. The oldest of six children, she had four brothers, Raymond, Vincent, Dominic and Maximillian and one sister, Maria. Her early childhood was spent in Los Angeles, California. She was baptized at Saint Sebastian Chapel in Frankfurt Germany. Her elementary schooling begin at St. Agatha Parish. Later the family moved to Colorado where she entered the Denver Public Schools system. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, Class of 1976. Bernadette was united in marriage with Warren Hogue, III. The marriage was remembered as "joyful". To this union was born one precious daughter, Rochelle Brianne. A devoted and loving mother, Rochelle remembers, "She was an excellent mother, daughter, sister and a friend to many." A woman of faith, Bernadette was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of St. Peter Claver. She was employed in the Insurance Industry, working for Infinity of Denver in the position of the Finance Manager. She was known for being happy, good at her job and a pleasure to work with. In her free time, Bernadette enjoyed family, friends, singing, music and cooking. Among her favorite recording artists were Tina Marie and Mary J. Blige. She was a loyal member of Mary Kay. She was a perfectionist when it came to beauty. Her best friends, Maria, Sharon and Kathy loved her for her loyalty. Her favorite color was red, she loved tall bouquets and she enjoyed all types of music. Bernadette's lasting impression on everyone was in her words, "Be strong, be proud." Family was everything to her. To know her was to love her and she will be missed. The sun set on the life of Ms. Bernadette Lourdes Hogue on August 20, 2017 when she passed into eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her father and brother, Vincent. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rochelle Hogue of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Janette Fry of Denver, CO; brothers, Dominic Santa Cruz of Denver, CO, Maximillian (Sheryl) Santa Cruz of Aurora, CO and Raymond Santa Cruz of Denver, CO; sister, Maria (David) Garza of Aurora, CO; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
