Obituary
Bobby Carter of San Antonio passed away on May 25, 2020 at age of 88. After months of feeling ill, he died peacefully at home in San Antonio with his brother, Joe Malone and his nephew Rod Malone by his side.
Bob was born on April 30, 1932 in Haynesville, LA to Myrtis Ward and Floyd Carter. As a young boy he attended school and worked in Haynesville. He later moved to Ft. Worth, TX, and fell in love with his high school sweetheart Aron Jackson, who gave birth to his first son Bobby Jackson-Carter.
Bob attended Hampton University. He later met and married Mary Cooper in South Carolina and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bob was stationed in Denver, CO where Mary gave birth to their daughter Bernadine V. Carter and son Eugene Carter.
He was a young entrepreneur with a determination for success like no other. He and Mary shared the same entrepreneurial spirit and together they launched B&M Enterprises which consisted of Fairfax Liquors, Bobs Smokehouse and a plethora of real estate.
Later in life, Bob married longtime friend Gladys Hoard. They spent 18 years together and called both Denver and Las Vegas, NV their home. Bob accepted and loved Gladys’ children and grandchildren as his own.
Bob was affectionately known as Duke, and Colorado Bob in addition to a host of other nicknames. He loved golfing, traveling by automobile and motorcycle, fishing, jazz and good food but his greatest love and passion was his family and friends.
Bob is proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Carter, as well as his two of his children Bernadine Carter and Eugene Carter. He leaves to mourn: his wife Gladys Carter, Denver, CO, Sister, Arlean Stanley, Kansas City, KS, Brother Joe Malone, San Antonio, TX, Son Bobbie Jackson-Carter, Ft. Worth, TX, Daughters Stephanie Turner, Denver CO, Ardith (Vincent) Gilmore, Denver, CO. His grandchildren Bobby Davis III, Ft Worth, TX,, Akyra Jackson, Houston, TX, Johnathan Carter, Atlanta GA, Larry Anderson, Ft. Worth, TX, Je’Lon (Leah) Turner, Aurora, CO, Da’Janai (Tyrell) Smith, Denver, CO and Bri’Ana Woods, Aurora, CO. As well as his great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
