At school your dad always had big dreams. Getting on at the post office I think after he married your mom he started talking about going to Denver. I remember all you boys running track. Your dad thought he had Olympic runners - he worked you hard. I missed your dad when y’all moved to Denver but he fulfilled his dream. I may send you more about us growing up together but I’ve got to say what’s on my mind right now. I loved your dad and mom and know how proud he was of how you boys turned out. A memory from Caesar Smith:
Your dad and I and my brother would go to the movies downtown. Your dad got money being a newspaper boy. I was too little. The movies cost 10cents and sometimes he’d pay for me and sometimes my brother would. We saw hopalong Cassidy, gene autry and the Cisco kid. Over and over again. Sometimes we’d fall asleep and they’d put us out of the movie. When we got to north high your dad was running back on the football team and a great sprinter on the track team. When I got to north we ran one year together and made it to Drake relays.

A memory from Caesar Smith;
Sorry for your loss but as you said he’s with your mom now.
Growing up with your dad was a treat. But not all the time because sometimes he pissed me off. He was my brothers age so I was still the little guy. Your dad lived around the block from me so I spent as much time there as I did at home playing cowboys and Indians and sometimes we’d play Canadian Mounted Police. He got a mounted police uniform one year for Christmas and he let me put it on. It was too big but I thought it was perfect even when they laughed at me! Your dads house was on the corner of 14th street and Laurel. There was a jungle behind the house. Nobody owned it and it was big enough for us to play Tarzan’s and the apes. I never did get to play Tarzan.
