Obituary of Cheryl Suzette Germany

Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ms. Cheryl Suzette “Cookie” Germany was born January 11th, 1956, the 6th of ten children born to the union of her parents Norwood Germany, Sr., and Dorothy Mae Randall Germany, in Denver, Colorado. Several years ago, it was discovered that she and her late younger brother, Norwood Germany, Jr., somehow had switched birthdates. For years Wood celebrated his birthday January 11th and she January 20th. The discrepancy was noticed when they applied for copies of their birth certificates years later. Cheryl, “Cookie” as we called her, was one of the sweetest persons you would ever know. Her nickname derived from her love for COOKIES; buying them to sell to others. We may have missed a family entrepreneur with Cheryl. Out of all the things to love in this world, she loved money. Not in the sense the Bible speaks of, but she enjoyed receiving money from everyone she knew. To our knowledge, no one ever refused her “where’s my 50 cents” request. She often received more than 50 cents. She attended the Denver Public Schools during her elementary years then until her passing away she was enrolled in developmentally challenged adult programs where she also held a part-time job. Her last work program was with Able Adult Services, (A Better Life Experience) in Thornton, Colorado. The staff at Able loved her and Cheryl loved them, especially her friend Charlie. She enjoyed working Word Search Puzzle Books and watching TV and listening to and singing songs. Her favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz and a few of her favorite TV shows were The Andy Griffith Show and Sanford and Son. Her favorite foods were potato chips, she loved potato chips, chicken pot pies, and fish sticks. Cheryl never married nor had children, but she loved children and thought of herself as a good babysitter throughout her life. If she loved you, you could expect a pinch on the arm, a GOOD pinch too. As a child and young adult, she attended the All Nations (West Denver Community) COGIC in Denver, Colorado, Pastored by the late Bishop Phillip Henry Porter, Jr., father of her current Pastor Arthur Porter, Sr., Senior Pastor of the New Nation COGIC in Aurora, Colorado. Living simply all her life Cheryl loved serving and praising the Lord in church dutifully with family members and her mother, the late and beloved Mother Dorothy Germany. She praised the Lord in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, and probably at midnight, but especially during praise and worship service and OMG, singing in the choir. Cheryl could sing, and sing she did, in church, at home, watching TV, riding to work…she was such a happy, joyful, and loving soul. Like her mother, often you’d find Cheryl sitting quietly, singing, and praying in worship to the Lord. She was a devoted and faithful member of the New Nation COGIC, serving in the choir for many years. A lover of all genres of music, a few of her favorite songs were “I Got Shoes” and “This Girl Is on Fire”. Cheryl transitioned from this life to her heavenly home Monday, November 21st, 2022. Proceeding her in death are her father, Norwood Germany, Sr., her mother, Dorothy Mae, her brothers George Washington, Norwood, Jr., and Paul Lawrence, Sr., her sisters, Helen Elaine, Pamela Barthel, and Lorraine. Remaining to cherish her memory are her brothers Ronald “Ronnie, RJay” (Pamela) Germany and Dennis Carl “DayX” (Tania) Muhammud, all of Aurora, Colorado, and her caregiving sister Cynthia (Eugene) Jackson of Denver, Colorado; her beloved Aunt Sallie Talley of Dallas, Texas, many church friends, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
