Obituary of Wayne Sylvester Hawkins

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wayne Sylvester Hawkins was born March 9, 1950, to Sylvester and Gertrude Hawkins at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. Wayne attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from Manual High School where he played for the varsity football team. He continued on to graduate from Adams State College with majors in Business Administration and Art. In 1974 after graduation, he joined the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska, and often spoke about how much he enjoyed living in Alaska. His daughter, Kelly Lynn, was indeed the light of his life. He loved spending time with her as she grew up as seen in the many pictures he took of her. Wayne was also an artist--his chosen medium was watercolor--he enjoyed painting landscapes of the Colorado mountains and trains. Wayne's life-long hobby was model railroading; he was very creative in setting up tracks for the trains and building entire scenes around them. Some of the displays that Wayne constructed throughout his lifetime filled entire rooms. He was a truck driver for multiple companies and retired from General Building Materials in 2019. Family to cherish his memory includes his daughter, Kelly Lynn (Lance) Goehringer, grandson, Caleb Jacob, Boulder, CO; two sisters, Delores (Glen) Dilworth, Denver, CO; Beverly (Earnest) Hall, Riverside, CA; one niece, Belinda (Everett) White, Pomona, CA; three nephews, Eugene Hall, Beaumont, TX; Armand (Tandy) Diworth, Denver, CO; Kevin (Leeza) Dilworth, Antioch, CA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
