Mr West, I just found out about your passing. My wife and I were walking the community and thought we haven’t seen Mr West lately. It was always good talking to you and hearing your stories of your family, military time, church events, etc…I will always remember the times you would stop by the garage when I would be working on motorcycles. My wife would always wonder why it took me so long to check the mail…She already knew Mr West saw you and started talking. RIP Mr West!

He would always say, I knew you before you were married and you sang like a bird in the choir at Mt. Gilead. That was over 39 years ago. He would often visit at CCF and would make a point of coming over to say hello to Mike and I. You will be dearly missed on this earthly plain. We will see you again Mr. Birdes. Rest easily and in power.

Birdes West and Ebony Hollins November 11, 2021 at Heritage Christian Center, Tuskegee Airmen Veterans Forum. On this day I met Mr. Birdes West and my life forever changed. To know him was such an honor. He was such a great friend, I will always cherish the memories of his laugh and the great stories he told me about his life.
