Obituary of Leonard Lydell Rogers

Leonard Lydell Rogers 49 years old, of Denver, Colorado passed away and went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2013. He was born on November 3, 1964 in Los Angeles, California to Len and Dorothy Rogers. Leonard was the first child of this union.During his early years on Pop Warner football team, he was a great football player and he also ran track at Hamilton High School where he attended.In 1996, Leonard was struck and hit in a crosswalk in Denver and sustained a traumatic head injury that placed him in a coma for over a month and left him in a slightly incapacitated recovery state.However, he never gave up on his dreams or quit trying to reach out to people and make friends. Leonard believed in God and had the ways of an innocent child in many ways. His laugh was infectious and he always found the humor in a situation. His kindness was often viewed as weakness and often placed him in vulnerable positions in life.His time with his family was cut short because of his time spent in incarceration, but he found hope in the smallest things, like a smile someone gave him or a compliment regarding his clothing or his artwork. He looked forward and thought he would have time to start over. Leonard struggled in his last days and now, we struggle because he will be missed every single day by those who loved and cared about him. We were fortunate that God placed him in our lives if only for a short while. We know and believe that Leonard is at peace now and safe in his Lord's arms.Leonard is survived by his father, Len (Renee) Rogers; mother;Dorothy Sams; sister, Tammie Rogers (Casino) Smith; brother,Taylor Len Rogers; nieces Karnesha and Trinyitee; nephews, Greg and Sam; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
