Jill, we had many discussions about Cecil, and despite how I felt you found a place in your heart to dignify a man who was NOT there you. When you went hungry you made sure he had something to eat. As a child when mom couldn't pay the rent, it was you who found housing for dad when he was homeless (twice, might I add). When he was sick you took him to the doctor and ensured that he was cared for. You did this even up to his death. YOU were there. If you don't remember anything, remember this "For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work..." (Hebrews 6:10) I know that you are not looking for praise, but that is just who you are. We might say that you have it honest since so many say how generous Cecil was. The honest truth is that YOU were there for dad although he was not there for you.

I can honestly say that I did NOT know the man so many have called generous, kind, and affectionate. If that's how he really was he was NOT that person to his "legitimate" children. But GOD is merciful when he says, "that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." (Acts 24:15) Perhaps a second chance at life will provide an opportunity for him to get it right. At least, for those who were so deserving of his generosity, kindness, and affection. Until then, may Cecil Williams rest in peace. (Jay Williams)
