The sun rose on the life of Mr. Jerry William Ellis on December 18, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri when he was born to Robert L. Ellis and Myrtle L. Taylor. The fourth child of seven, Jerry grew up with two brothers, Jack Carly and Robert Louis and one sister, Lillian. A happy child, Jerry spent his childhood being very active and playing around. Jerry received his education in the public school system in St. Louis. In the 1970's Jerry was united in marriage with Otha L. Williams in St. Louis. To this union were born three children, Ametrius T., Damon L. and Marvin W. L. Additionally Jerry was the father of Fred Wallace and four other children in St. Louis from a previous relationship. He was a caring father who enjoyed his time with his children. In later years, his many grandchildren; Teniel, Dejilon, Anyla, Cyna, Concera, Ceran, Othello, Brandon, Lavie, Caylena, and Maraia and great grandchild, Malachi (to name a few) were an added source of enjoyment and pride in his life. They called him "Grandpa" and he loved them dearly. Jerry was a member of the San Francisco Temple in St. Louis. He became a member in the 1970's. He was employed with the Southern Comfort Corporation in Fenton, MO. He was known and appreciated for hard work and being a very outgoing coworker. Everyone enjoyed working with him. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, playing dominoes, cards, working on cars and doing upholstery. His best friends were Eddie and Minnie Jones and family, Alfred and Stan Wallace and the late Bill Bailey. They loved his personality and wonderful sense of humor. His most often used expressions were, "Take it easy", "How you doing, Pal?".Jerry truly loved life and enjoyed every minute of it. His favorite music was Soul music and R & B. His infectious laughter, sense of humor, happy smile and love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of Jerry's life. To know him was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Jerry William Ellis on September 3, 2015 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack C. Ellis; sister, Lillian and several of his best friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Fred Wallace of St. Louis, MO, Damon Davis and Marvin Davis, both of Aurora, CO; daughter, Ametrius Ellis, also of Aurora, CO; brother, Robert L. Ellis of St. Louis, MO; other children; close friends, Robert Thompson and family of Arkansas and Ervin Thompson and family of St. Louis, MO; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
