Obituary of Douglas Bryant Manuel
Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Douglas Bryant Manuel on June 25, 1949 in Denver, Colorado when he was born to Carl Manuel and Marilyn Whitaker-Wheeler. The youngest of three children, Douglas had one brother, Carl and one sister, Cynthia. Douglas received his formal education in the Denver Public School District. He graduated from East High School. Later, he continued his education at a vocational school where he earned training and certification for being a machinist. During his time on this earth, Douglas fathered four beautiful daughters, Tonya, Tiffny, Quiana and Lakeisha. He loved his daughters dearly. The greatest memory they share is remembering his love and protection. His grandchildren, Lazely, Quiara, Chris, Zariyah, Ahlaysah, M.J., Neahaniya, Robert, Shaada, Hashaun and Dante added a great deal of joy and pride to his life. They remember "PawPaw" taking them to the park, giving them snacks and two dollar bills, cooking for them and overall making sure they had fun. They loved him dearly as much as he loved them. Douglas worked as a self employed handy man. He was known for hard work and excellence in his jobs. He spent much of his free time boxing. He was a sparing partner for Ron Lyle and was a long time member of the 40 Weight club 76. He also enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. His best friend was Lester "Lucky", but he had many "partners" as he called them that he enjoyed time with. Everyone loved him for being respectful, funny and having an upbeat attitude. His favorite color was blue and he like listening to jazz. One of his talents was gardening for his mother and he loved all the plants and flowers. He left a lasting impression on everyone as a protector, strong, loving, funny, busybody who was always helpful and told it like it is. "Douglas had many friends and he will leave a wonderful, lasting memory for everyone's life he touched. He will be the one person that no one will forget. He had a huge impact on everyone. The one thing everybody noted when they talked about "Dougie" was his big blue eyes." He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. To know Douglas was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Douglas Bryant Manuel on November 2, 2015 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and daughter, Tonya Grimes. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving companion, Allora Harris of Denver, CO; daughters, Tiffny Manuel, Lakeisha Moore, both of Aurora, CO and Quiana Thomas of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Lazely A. Bennett-Jordan, Quiara Thomas, Chris Thomas, Zariyah Wheeler, Ahlaysah Sipes, M.J. Sipes, Neahaniya Smith. Robert Robinson, Shaada Davis, Hashaun Baxter and Dante King; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Rest in peace..."Dougie"
